The Foundations of Spiritual Care


This programme encourages all health and social care professionals to be mindful of the critical role spiritual wellness plays in the quality of life of those we care for. The programme builds awareness of our need to address and  understand the spiritual care needs of our  patients and their families. It also offers tools and skills to assess and address spiritual needs. 

2017 Dates:

Over two consecutive Wednesdays

  • 21 & 28 June (8:30 am - 12:30 pm)
  • 6 & 13 September (12:30 - 4:30 pm)


  • Enhanced holistic care skills
  • Increased awareness of the diversity of needs
  • Increased awareness of own needs

Topics include:    

  • Exploring spirituality
  • Wairuatanga - spiritual wellbeing
  • Spirituality at the end of life
  • Spiritual Care at the end of life and caring for ourselves
